| Butterfly Release |
| After weeks of waiting, 2nd grade classroom butterflies emerged at the middle of May. As part of the ASSET science unit, students followed the life cycle – watching the egg grow to a caterpillar, to a chrysalis, and finally into a butterfly. The children were excited, and a little sad, to release their fluttering friends in Paynter’s garden at the front of the school. As they wore their butterfly headbands, each child read their personal farewell letter aloud and sang a song to wish the butterflies well. |

| Morning with Mom |
| Friday, May 9th was Paynter’s annual Morning with Mom. Students were invited to spend some time before school with an important female in their life. Moms, grandmas, and aunts enjoyed a sweet snack and beverage before class started. Thank you to all of the dads, grandpas, and uncles who helped set up, serve and clean up. |

| Tie-Dye |
| All five kindergarten classes met to tie dye t-shirts to wear on their upcoming field trip. The bright shirts will help everyone to recognize each other in the group. Students enjoyed squeezing the dye on to their shirt, blending colors and watching how the dye is absorbed. This activity correlated with the Kindergarten ASSET science unit Fabrics. After the shirts were washed and dried, the children loved seeing how different and beautiful each other’s shirts were. |
