Certain rules
and regulations have been established for students
who are transported to and from school on Baldwin-Whitehall
buses and vans. These rules are for the safety of
the students who ride the buses.

All residents should
become familiar with these rules. Parents of young
children should review the rules with them. Violations
of these rules and regulations can result in loss
of riding privileges.
Prior
to Loading (at the bus stop and at school)
1.
Be on time
at the designated bus stop. Do not arrive more than
ten minutes prior to the scheduled time.
2.
Stay off the road at
all times while waiting for the bus. Riders must
conduct themselves in a safe manner while waiting
for the bus.
3.
Respect the property
of the homeowner at the bus stop. Do not damage hedges,
flowers, grass, retaining walls. Do not litter.
4.
Wait until the bus comes
to a complete stop before attempting to board the
bus.
5.
Do not cross the road
until all traffic has come to a complete stop. Check
both ways.
6.
Do not push or shove
while boarding the bus.
While
on the Bus
1.
Keep hands
and heads inside the bus at all times.
2.
Do not litter on the
bus. Eating and drinking on the bus is prohibited.
3.
No smoking on the bus.
4.
Remember that loud talking
and laughing or unnecessary confusion can divert
the driver’s attention and can result in serious
accident.
5.
Do not damage the bus
in any way. Offenders are responsible for payment
for damage to seats, window, etc.
6.
Never tamper with the
bus or any equipment on the bus.
7.
Take care not to leave
lunches, books, or other articles on the bus.
8.
Keep book, packages,
coats, and other objects out of the aisles.
9.
Do not leave the seat
while the bus is in motion.
10.
Do not throw anything
out of the bus windows.
11.
Horseplay or rowdiness
is not permitted on the bus.
12.
In the event of an emergency,
stay on the bus and follow the directions of the
driver.
After
Leaving the Bus
1.
When crossing
the road, look to be certain that all traffic has
stopped in both directions. Cross at least ten feet
in front of the bus.
2.
Drivers will not discharge
riders at places other than the regular bus stop
or at school unless authorized by a school official.

Students
may be excused from school attendance to participate
in non-school sponsored tours or trips of educational
value. Approval of Superintendent, or designee, shall
be obtained in advance

Students may be excused
for non-school sponsored educational trips provided
that a written request including a statement of the
educational value of the trip is submitted to the
building principal two weeks in advance of the trip.
The building principal will determine the appropriateness
of the trip as an educational experience and will
authorize the student’s participation.
The parents and student
are expected to fulfill the stated educational components
of the trip as presented and the student is also
responsible for classroom assignments during the
period of absence. Parents should make every effort
to schedule vacations on non-school days and, if
unsuccessful, to minimize the child’s absence.
